TYPA Classic is our most popular notebook. Handcrafted from repurposed hardcover books, it looks just like a real book while offering a fresh start with new pages inside. Every notebook is unique, preserving the character and history of its original cover.

Each notebook is sewn and glued for durability and everyday use. The covers come from genuine discarded hardcover books, while the inside pages are made from Olin Design Regular, a premium uncoated paper made from carefully selected eucalyptus fibres. Its bright white shade, smooth surface, and excellent writing qualities make it an ideal choice for everyday notes, sketches, and capturing your best ideas.

The number of pages varies depending on the thickness of the original book cover. Every notebook also includes a paper pocket inside the back cover for storing notes, receipts, tickets, or other small keepsakes.

Giving Books a Second Life

While we used to receive most of our books from libraries and schools, today the majority comes from people donating their old books. Some of these volumes find their way to our studio, where we transform them into unique handmade notebooks.

Wherever possible, we also use surplus paper from local industries for the inside pages, helping to keep valuable materials in use for longer. The original text blocks removed from the books are sent to a local paper mill for recycling or are transformed into Cellu-fiber, a natural insulation material, ensuring that as much of each book as possible continues to be used.

Because every notebook is unique, the inside pages vary from one notebook to another. Depending on the individual notebook, the paper may be blank, lined, dotted, coloured, or a combination of different paper types.
