Description

TYPA is a non-profit centre for letterpress and paper art based in Tartu, Estonia. We are a unique centre, preserving historic printing presses, researching the history of print, and running educational programmes and outreach for local schools and communities. Buying our products already helps in supporting our important work, but if you would like to contribute further, a donation of any size helps us keep going.

€5 helps us maintain our collection of wooden and metal types (the individual letters used in lettepress printing). These important pieces of heritage demonstrate the history of the Estonian printing industry. We hold the largest collection of type in this region, with items dating back to the first republic – 100 years ago.

€20 contributes towards the upkeep of our historic printing presses. These machines come from various eras, with some representing some of the earliest printing technology used in Estonia.  Keeping them in working condition allows us to demonstrate living print history, rather than simply preserve it behind glass.

€50 supports the development of new educational programmes and exhibitions. These programmes bring the history of print directly to communities who might not otherwise encounter it, giving over 50 individual museum lessons last year to about 1000 individual young people.
